  3. Whats new in v1.1 and v1.2?
  4.  
  5.   Thanks for asking, these updates introduce a compression algorythm that
  6.   reduces the size of the drawing files to around 10k, quite a drop from
  7.   the original 120k! It automatically converts v1.0 drawings to v1.2, and
  8.   its all done "on-the-fly" so theres nothing you have to do! Be sure to
  9.   make a back up of your favorite drawings before conversion, just in case.

  11.   We be jammin' now! Dr. Doodle will now play music while you're drawing!
  12.   Command line driven, the first parameter should be one of these:
  13.     SB or sb   = SoundBlaster on 220h int 7
  14.     DIS or dis = Disney sound source on LPT1
  15.     DAC or dac = DA converter on LPT1
  16.     PC or pc   = PC speaker (ugh, yuk!)
  17.   ex. "DRDOODLE SB" will play the Teddy bear boogie on your SoundBlaster.

  19.   the second parameter can be an alternate .MOD file to play. 
  20.     ex. "DRDOODLE PC SONG.MOD" will play "SONG.MOD" on your PC speaker.

  45.   I wrote this program with 2 to 7 year olds in mind, however, just about all 
  46.   ages will enjoy it. My 3 and 4 year old girls love it, because they can
  47.   draw, save, and load the drawings all by themselves! I made this program's 
  48.   save and load features completely controlled by button clicks, so that even 
  49.   a 2 year old can use it! Which is why I limited the number of drawings to 
  50.   10, a youngster has little concept of disk space, and you may have ended up 
  51.   with millions of drawing files on your drive!

  54. Why the low registration fee?
  55.  
  56.   Because there are too many over-priced Shareware programs out there, you
  57.   can go bankrupt registering half the ones that you like! However, I don't
  58.   want to just give this program away because of all the time I have spent
  59.   developing it. Besides, $7 is about 2 days allowance now anyway, right?

  62. How do I do it?  
  63.   
  64.   Registration is simple, pull $7 out of your pocket, print out the
  65.   order form, and send them to me! In return, I will send you a new copy
  66.   of Dr. Doodle personalized with your childs name or message, also, the 
  67.   Shareware demo at the beginning will be removed. 
  68.   (if you don't have a printer, just write all info on a sheet of paper.)

  71. What are the features of Dr. Doodle?

  73.   Features are many, least of which is a button sensitive help line, when 
  74.   the mouse cursor passes over a button, a description of the function of 
  75.   that button is shown in the bottom "info" box.

  77.   There are 16 object buttons:

  84.   There are 16 color buttons: The standard VGA color palette.

  86.   There are 3 line thickness buttons:  Thin    Medium    Thick  
  87.     (These also control the size of text)

  89.   There is a reverse drawing button: This button will mirror image your 
  90.     drawing in the horizontal direction.

  92.   There is a clear screen button: Figure this one out.

  94.   There is a save and a load button: Saves or loads up to 10 drawings by
  95.     clicking on one of the 10 buttons.

  97.   There is an exit button: Another toughie.

  99.   There is also an About Program button: Its the title bar at the top of
  100.     the screen. This displays info about me and the program.

  103. How does it work?
  104.  
  105.   Operation is simple, 
  106.     click, release, click, release, click, drag, release.
  107.  
  108.   Most objects are drawn using this method...
  109.     click on the object button you want to draw. release.
  110.     click on the color you want the object to be. release.
  111.     click on the line thickness. release.
  112.     click on the screen. drag to the size you want. release.
  113.  
  114.   The triangle is probably the toughest one to figure out.
  115.     first, click on one of the triangle icons.
  116.     next, click on the screen for the first point,
  117.     drag the baseline to the width you want, release.
  118.     next, move the mouse to complete the triangle, click, release.

  120.   You will notice that while dragging your mouse, the selected object is 
  121.   "rubber-banded" in place to show you the progress, like the square in the 
  122.   opening demo of the Shareware version.

  124.   Text is another one that deserves instruction, but really is easy.
  125.     click on the Text button, then click on the screen where you want the
  126.     lower-left corner of the text to appear, then type your text. The line
  127.     will wrap when you reach the right side of the drawing area, but keep
  128.     in mind that this is not a word processor, so we don't have word-wrap, 
  129.     backspace, etc. The line thickness buttons control text appearance.

  131.   Flood Fill is simple to use, but deserves an explanation.
  132.     when filling a box, circle, etc. it works as normal. but to encourage
  133.     bright young minds to use their imagination, I made it so that it acts
  134.     unpredictably when trying to fill around corners, text, etc. My main
  135.     reason for doing this is to help bring out the hidden artistic talent
  136.     of your kids! (ok, I admit it, I couldn't figure out how to make it 
  137.     work properly around corners, but it sounded good anyway! so sue me :)

  139.   CrossHair 1 & 2 are kinda neat, try holding down the mouse button while
  140.     dragging the mouse around the screen. These are my kid's favorites!
